Alicia, I had a hand in writing the eBook "All About CVS" so I'd recommend that one ;) Essential CVS which you already have though has been the one book that most CVS Admins have read for many years

Vijay, On the client side I am using WinCVS and Tortoise CVS with ssh public key authentication. I am using the putty plink.exe command line client to obtain the SSH connection with CVS. I just need

Why take it on faith when you have the source? Go and look it up if you wish. It is not much of a 'lock', but for many definitions of the term it is a 'lock' ... The 'cvs edit' is an advisory lock. U
