Hi people!

Here is a snapshot of the 1.7.x branch of Automake.

  ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/automake/automake-1.7.5b.tar.gz
  ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/automake/automake-1.7.5b.tar.bz2
  ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/automake/automake-1.7.5b.tar.gz
  ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/automake/automake-1.7.5b.tar.bz2

I hope to release 1.7.6 by the middle of next week

If you can, please test it and report any problem you encounter to
<address@hidden>. If you have sent any bug-report that hasn't
been answered, consider sending it again, or fill a PR at
http://sources.redhat.com/cgi-bin/gnatsweb.pl?database=automake

Because the changes to depcomp made it a lot stricter when probing
dependency modes, I'd be particularly interested by report from people
using non-gcc compilers.

Here is a list of changes since 1.7.5.

Bugs fixed in 1.7.5b:
* Fix depcomp's icc mode for ICC 7.1.
* Diagnose calls to AC_CONFIG_FILES and friends with not enough arguments.
* Fix maintainer-clean's removal of autom4te.cache in VPATH builds.
* Fix AM_PATH_LISPDIR to work with POSIXLY_CORRECT=1.
* Fix the location reported in some diagnostics related to AUTOMAKE_OPTIONS.
* Remove Latin-1 characters from elisp-comp.
* Update the manual's @dircategory to match the Free Software Directory.
