Exactly. If the VM interface does not change (or only minor changes), you can configure CACAO to use a external classpath installation (which can be a CVS version or a newly realeased one), like it's done for jamvm. Just use the --with-external-classpath=<cir> configure switch.
Then means this http://www.theuserbl.ag.vu/cacaoerr.txt that 1. the VM interface from 0.16 to 0.18 _have_ changed and 2. they are not minor changes. But thanks for the information. I will later try to use 0.17 with cacao, if that is possible. Greatings theuserbl
