Lighthouse Applications -- The final word

All,

It has been a few days since I sent the email to Sun (twice) and copied the
list (once). It pains me to say it, but I believe that convincing Sun to
release the applications is a dead end given their most recent announcement at
The Register and given their unresponsiveness to multiple queries from myself
and others. :(

It's sad that Sun is unable or unwilling to see the benefits of releasing the
Lighthouse apps. I hope that they one day change their mind about it, but it
doesn't look likely at this point. I am more than a little disappointed about
this development, but I am not in control of Sun (obviously ;) ), so there's
little I can do. Sun obviously has other plans for these apps on some level
that do not involve letting them go.

Besides, since these apps aren't being released we now have all the reason in
the world to develop our own set of applications which might be better and
easier to begin with.

Thanks, GJC
