Tried it with 2.4.19 kernel. It certainly made a difference - instead of
getting a single scsi timeout message followed by a system hang, I now get
a continuous stream of the following messages:
SCSI host 0 abort (pid 11858) timed out - resetting
SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0.
scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 11858, scsi0, channel 0, id 0,
lun 0 Test Unit Ready 00 00 00 00 00
repeating every 0.5 second, but the system doesn't hang.
