As stated our two points of consideration are 1. That MIMS is a subscription service. We do not receive any revenue from advertising for our electronic database therefore we need to sell it to enable its maintenance. 2. There is some concern about the presentation of the data in an open source environment. With subscribers free to use the data within their version of the application there is potential for it to be integrated incorrectly and possibly cause errors in prescription writing. MIMS is not willing to take the liability for the implementation of the data. I would like to see Gnumed consider using the MIMS FastTrack database. The API exposes a server object that communicates with the FastTrack Database. Requests are passed to the API for list, content or interaction information. These requests are always passed to the API as well-formed and valid XML requests. The API returns well-formed and valid XML results or binary (images) data. The database has been optimized to work with this API which results in very fast response times. This is currently only compiled for Windows but if Gnumed were to consider using it we could compile for Linux. This would relieve any problems of incorrect use of the data. As also discussed I would be in agreement for you to use the full prescribing information for Zantac as a demonstration of the data integrated into the application. On my return from leave (Mon 28 Apr) I will be in touch re the abbreviated and interaction data. Hi Richard
As discussed on the phone MIMS is happy to support the Gnumed project. As stated our two points of consideration are
