Sound still reverses for me in quake2 and quake3. It's very strange. It will
be reversed for like 15 minutes, and then not reversed for 2 minutes.
Really it's random. It seems like it's random, and i dont know what causes it.

Everything else about the patch is working fine. No trouble at all with
speedups or anything.
I was thinking that
dmesg |grep vortex
vortex: 2 virt=12, real=0, delta=2
vortex: 2 virt=15, real=3, delta=3
vortex: 2 virt=4, real=0, delta=2

had something to do with my sound reversal...but i'm not sure at the moment.
Sometimes those appear when im playing quake2/3, but the sound will
still reverse without generating one of those (used dmesg -c for 2 hours trying
to figure it out). It seems like xmms never reverses...but my music
is so psychadelic that if it did reverse...i wouldnt really notice.

From the new patch i also got this error.
vortex: IRQ fifo error
But i didn't notice any new strange behavior. So i'm not worried about it.
Only thing i care about at this point is sound reversal. I'm thinking
about reversing my stereos plugs to reverse it permenantly, and then reverse
xmms's sound. (but that wouldnt fix it for headphones or for the times
when quake2/3 is between reversals)

Actually with this new patch my sounds sound liek they are being downsampled.
I can hear a robotic tinge to all sounds including the ones in quake2/3
and xmms. It starts after about 15 minutes of play. I'm glad I didn't properly send the e-mail to the list so i could add this without spamming. I'm on spring break now so if anyone needs me to do more testing let me know....I think im going to go back into the archives (is this possible?) to try every alsa driver released to find which one doesnt reverse sound....It's a major problem for me.

Anyone anything?

Hi Takashi,

I made a new patch against 1.0.3. Since alsa-lib config files already
seems to be in place, i guess that now the driver can be merged into
alsa-kernel.

Any comments ?

Best Regards

Works for me. The greatest effect of this patch is that there's no more
annoing noise from soundcard in headfones and no stereo swapping at all :)
btw, with this patch xmms sometimes starts playing very fast. Stop/start
playng helps.
