Just what's in the subject doesn't help much.  Which groups, under what
conditions, in what languages, binary or text group, on what server? 
These are the sorts of questions the answers of which might help.

Also, what distrib or other platform you are running, what locale, whether
you compiled from tarball or installed a package and which one and from
where if so, etc.

Further, what have you done to try and trace the problem yourself?  Did
you upgrade in place over an older version and is that when the problem
started?  What happens if you rename the ~/.pan dir where PAN keeps its
state and/or just the server files and/or simply create a new server,
point it at the same physical server, and try it?

You do get points for saying what version of PAN, but the question still
isn't narrow enough to really let us be of help to you.  Not ALL the above
info is usually necessary, but providing SOME of it would be a good start.
