I am afraid you cannot fix it in the git tree this way because the files 
produced by auto* tools are not tracked by git anyway.  You just need to
run Makepkgs on a machine with new enough development packages (namely 
libtool?) to pull in up2date versions of config.{sub,guess} when making
the release tarballs.
