[Adonthell-devel] Various bugs and additions

Today (well, yesterday night) I finally had some good inspirations for the
extro dialogue, and after writing for a while, I did some testing and ran
into a few bugs.

If you load the attached save game (which is just before the extro begins)
you'll see that Jelom is all messed up. Don't know how it happend, but he
stands in an odd position between two tiles and will no longer move.

However, if I bring up the console and do a
    gamedata.get_character ("Jelom Rasgar").jump_to (9,2,6)
he'll resume movement just fine.

Further, in the label_input, if you type something, then move the cursor
to the left and type some more, the text will still appear back to front.

Another odd thing happens under BeOS: Adonthell compiles fine now, but
once it crashed during the intro and more often during the first dialogue.
Given that odd behaviour we faced I while ago, I'd say something wicked
happens during the intro sequence. Memory gets overwritten or something.

I wouldn't bet on it however ;). Unfortunately, there is no (binary) of
gdb for BeOS, and although I managed to compile it, it won't work. And
with the bdb (the Be debugger) you can do no backtrace, and so far I
hadn't the energy to debug the code line by line to find the source of
error. Maybe I'll give it a try next week. But I think first of all I'll
bring the intro sequence code into a better shape. Sorry Alex, but it's a
mess :).

Now on to a few good things:
I tweaked the installation, so that the wastesedge directory is
deleted before stuff gets copied over. That should prevent problems like
cirrus was facing in the future. Take care if you modified stuff inside
that directory; it'll be lost.

The extro dialogue is far from completion, but one thread is practically
complete. If you load the attached save game (and update your data before
that) you'll be able to test it. Always pick the last option, the others
are not completed.

With a bit of luck, I'll be able to finish the extro over the next days. I
have some more ideas for the other threads already, but any additional
suggestions are welcome.

See ya,

Kai
