Hi folks,
A few of us have put together a word list for an Aspell dictionary for
Welsh (cy-GB). Thierry Vignaud who built the Breton dict is helping us
build the dictionary.
We're on the verge of building it, but (I am not a programmer) have a
couple of questions.
The main one is, how does attachment of contractions work? I see on your
page that you can specify ' as a character that links words, but can you
define that the contractions only follow a vowel?
Also, in MAcOS X, many users will be using typographers quotes ( ’ ) -
does this need to be specified?
Later, there's the whole thing about "rules". In Welsh, the first letter
of most word can change depending on context, which is the word before,
or being a question etc etc. For now, we've included each variant as a
genuine word (which quadruples the size of the dictionary).
Thanks for your help,
Jim
