Thanks but this based on a rather old Emacs version (24 or 25 if I am
not mistaken).
Stefan Moser pointed out the solution to me that works fine for
emacsforosx (shall we include it in the documentation?)
One has to create a small script
#!/bin/sh
/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs "$@"
Make it executable, place it in /usr/local/bin
And start emacs from the command line.
Then everything works as expected.
