I don't understand what you mean. The new Autoconf will not install new
config.guess and config.sub unless you want it. The new Autoconf is
compatible with the old (and hopefully with your modified) config.guess
and config.sub.

Maybe it's not the right time for you to change until Autoconf 2.50 is
released, but if you want to make sure that Autoconf 2.50 works on your 25
platforms it's a good idea to go ahead and give the CVS version a try.
