I tested the combination of my patch and your two patches (in the three
posts which preced this one in this thread), and it passed make check
in both autoconf and automake.

So I installed all of them.

You requested a detailed changelod entry for my patch; unfortunately,
I don't remember all the details, so I wrote only a short one.
(But it might be more comprehensive this way. :-)
