The simplest fix is to change the documentation to match the current
behavior, so I installed the following.  If there's a good reason to
change the behavior instead, please let us know.  Traditions seem to
vary in this area in Autoconf.  Among Autoconf-using programs, I
suspect gnulib's stdint module makes this macro obsolescent anyway, so
I'd rather not futz with it if I can avoid it.
