For the time being, I'd appreciate that we keep on working on surface
issues. I sure don't want to prohibit more ambitious changes, but
there is still room for improvements on many issues. For instance,
I'd like to start sing Jim's Makefile.maint, to move to .in instead of
.sh etc.
Also, the documentation can certainly be completed.
Do you people think an FAQ should be in the documentation, or just
kept as a web page? I do think we need one, but should it be shipped?
It will also become urgent that we track what are the traces that will
lack to Automake. For instance, we need something so that _REGEX can
tell automake it has to ship regex.[ch] etc. This is not available
yet.
I've started working on autom4te at home, and I hope to bring some
results soon. The caching part is a bit tricky, but using Perl proved
to be a nice move (as opposed to sh, not to other languages).
Let's flush all the pending messages too.
