No GNU build tool can be written in a language already used by another tool.
Since people already have to know sh, m4, and makefile syntax to use
autoconf & automake, those three are out, and Perl is out because automake
used it.  autoILOVEYOU, the GNU viral installer, is written in Visual BASIC
and Microsoft Word macros, so autopackage is left with Python.

(Perl seems readable enough for automake...)
