I didn't see a reply to this yet, so here is a snippet from cvs m4
configure:

  AC_INIT([GNU m4], [1.4q], address@hidden)
  AC_CONFIG_SRCDIR([src/m4.h])
  AC_CONFIG_AUX_DIR(config)
  AM_CONFIG_HEADER(config.h:config-h.in)
  AC_CONFIG_TESTDIR(tests)

  AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE(AC_PACKAGE_TARNAME, AC_PACKAGE_VERSION)
