beginners question ?

I'm just starting to use gnu autotools, and I have some small problems, I have figured out how to build in some subdirs and to have resonable include paths, but how do I link with X11 , I'm using automake and autoconf and have a subdir which contains the source and an

 something like this:



INCLUDES        = -I$(top_builddir) -I$(top_builddir)/lib

bin_PROGRAMS = prog
prog_SOURCES = prog.c prog2.c prog2.h.

 And I want it linked with -lX11 ??

Do I add to this file or the toplevel or toplevel ?
