Does anyone have the following problem?

After is changed, type 'make' won't create a new Makefile. In my
Makefile which is generated by 'automake', there are lines like

$(srcdir)/ #  $(top_srcdir)/ $(ACLOCAL_M4)
        cd $(top_srcdir) && \
          $(AUTOMAKE) --gnu  car2netcdf/apps/Makefile
Makefile: # $(srcdir)/  $(top_builddir)/config.status
        cd $(top_builddir) && $(SHELL) ./config.status $(subdir)/$@

'#' sign is the problem. I don't how I can get rid of it since it is generated
by 'automake'.

My machine is running RedHad 9.
automake is (GNU automake) 1.6.3
make is GNU Make version 3.79.1

I have "AM_MAINTAINER_MODE' in file.
