Yeah- I shorted the pins. No luck.

Do you know if there's a JTAG port on the thing that I can connect to with my JTAGICE?

Hi all,

I have an AVRISP that I haven't used for a while, and I am trying to upgrade it from V1.0F to 2.04 with no success. I've tried the manual upgrade procedure, and AVRprog will not connect to it. I'm guessing that it's because the unit uses the 1.0 protocol, but I'm not sure.

The unit is failing verification after programming in all cases. It does come back after, but continues to report a 1.0F version.

You remembered to short the two holes shown in the instructions? Thats
necessary to put the chip in download mode.
