it works nicely, but looking a the code it does not look "sound": curses-based, all the not-needed modem stuff, lot of dead code carried along for systems that pratcically do not exist any more, and the configuration looks messy - conflicts between the nice curses based dynamic configuration of minicom and the "make-oriented" static configuration mechanism in the shipped package). The result is overly complex and looks diffcult to mainain - how long will it survive?

What alternatives can other Linux users suggest? Thanks!
