This error message is coming from the underlying lisp image (in
lsp/gcl-2.6.2a/lsp/gcl_iolib.lsp), not from Axiom. I don't understand
yet why it occurs but I'll look into it.

Axiom does not, as far as I know, have a "linear" output representation.
