Thanks for the replies.

I am sorry to clutter the email list with this test. :-( In fact
it was sent by my email provider in response to my problem report
attached below. They claim that it is not their problem so perhaps
it has something to do with changes in the nongnu.org email list
software and the mx10.gnu.org server. Has anyone else received a
"fatal error" response like:

  550-Callback setup failed while verifying

?

Regards,
Bill Page.

Good Morning Bill,

I have forwarded the information including the error message to our email
provider for investigation. I will contact you once I receive their
response.

Dear Tech Support;

Can you confirm that the following error message which I received
while posting to an email list that used to work properly is due
to some problem with the Anikast email server? The message suggests
that my mail server is rejecting a certain type of request to verify
my email address and that therefore the email list is refusing to
post my message to the group. This error has happened frequently
over the last week but not for every message that I have sent.

Regards,
Bill Page.

We've had problems with mailing lists on other servers, and there's a thread on problems between gmail and sourceforge:

http://it.slashdot.org/it/06/10/04/1324214.shtml

sourceforge mailing lists were implementing "callbacks" and were dropping mail.

Here's a description of what might be happening:

http://atm.tut.fi/list-archive/nanog/msg37172.html

For what it's worth, I haven't seen problems with mail to axiom-developer on my end (knock on wood).
