I had seen mention of it before but had not tried it. Congratulations Ross . It makes interesting reading, especially because it is unusual to read materials in this area which have such a self-conscious policy, rather than technical, focus. User reviews were seen as less useful than expert reviews. You can configure it with the selection of book sites, library sites, and your zip code.
It seems to work quite well. org does not behave like this now.
Unless, again, it is qualified in use. CURL, for non-UK readers, is the consortium of research libraries in the UK and Ireland.
These are of course major issues for research libraries everywhere.
The second was that they were not seen as having academic expertise.
The study took an ethnographic approach, using a variety of qualitiative techniques to try to build up a rich picture of library perceptions and expectations.
We can expect to see it change where it makes sense based on user behaviors.
Interestingly, the main Google search engine is not included. They are working towards a wider range of 'research support services' of which the institutional repository may be a part, and towards a new sense of discovery in a very changed network world.
In the notebook were pasted various 'provocative' statements.

Library staff tend to be disappointed that the drive-in users do not make use of other services; not unsurprisingly, they 'express delight' about library enthusiasts.

I found it strange that the report's focus is one potential answer to this set of issues, rather than the issues themselves and a range of possible answers.
The report notes that there were two main groups of remarks about library staff.
But, of course, these are directions in which we plan to go, integrating 'find it' services with 'get it' services across multiple independently managed systems.

Now, unlike my children, I still occasionally type in a URL rather than going straight to the search box in the corner, and, ancient that I am, I sometimes even try to guess the form of a URL. Congratulations Ross
