I think things in Lucid that affect BE changed between the very early
version (Alpha3?) I originally tested with and the final version.
Anyway, I just created a "quick and dirty" new package of BE 4.0 for
Lucid and made it available in the Developer Testing PPA, at
https://launchpad.net/~pkgcrosswire/+archive/developer-testing/+packages
The new package is bibledit-4.0-2~lucid1 and its partner, named
bibledit-data-4.0-2~lucid1
So you can add
ppa:pkgcrosswire/developer-testing
to your Software Sources and then try installing and using the version.
The "quick and dirty"-ness should relate to the packaging, not to the
installed end result, so while I need to tidy up my work before I
release it more widely, this package of BE should run just fine in Lucid.
