If Di-An contributes more patches to Java those would be good for 2.5,
OTOH I'm not going to implement his ideas (no time). :-(  I'm happy to
continue discussing the output file name changes, which anyway will only
affect %language.

I think most of the changes in Joel's patch can be separated soon after
2.5 branches.  They are good independent of which approach is chosen.
I'll see if I find some time for that.
