I know and have some contact with an American who is doing some
"computerization". I have contact with him due to the fact that he may be
interested in using FarsiKDE for Afghanistan.

I can only speak about Iran. The major projects being done in Iran are the
ones of www.linuxiran.org (spreading the word), www.farsikde.org
(localization of KDE), and then some issue that happen in www.farsiweb.info
Beside that we know that a lot of ISPs use GNU/Linux as a platform but nothing
else. The goverment of Iran doesn't really seem interested in hearing about
Free/Libre and open source technologies. There have been some attempts in
using it, but not because it is about Freedom, but because it may be more
secure.

In Tajikistan: I knew an (again) American who was helping Tajukis to translate
Mandrake into Tajiki. That is the only project I know about.

If you need more info about Afghanistan and Tajikistan, please do get back to
me.
