OK.
1. No, I'm running linux 686, originally installed from Mandrake 8.0,
but modified since then. Here's what uname -a reports:
Linux zion.rcn.com 2.4.7-pre3 #2 SMP Fri Jul 6 00:19:36 EDT 2001 i686 unknown
2. PATH=/nonexistent:$PATH make check ==>
26: torture.at:90 ok
