[GNU Autoconf 2.53] testsuite.log: 1 failures

Dear autoconf:

I've just tried to install autoconf 2.53 on a machine running 
NetBSD/i386 version 1.5.2.  When I ran  make check  an error message 
was generated, along with a request to send the file testsuite.log to 
you, so I'm obeying that instruction.

I don't know if it's relevant, but I replaced the /usr/bin/m4 which 
came with the NetBSD distribution with the /usr/local/bin/m4 which 
was created when I installed GNU m4 1.4.  I tried to install autoconf 
before doing that but ./configure stopped with 'error: GNU M4 1.4 is 
required'

I believe the next release of NetBSD will have a newer version of the 
compiler.  I wonder if that will have an effect on this error?
