Wow! Indeed, it looks like for some reason, AC_PACKAGE_TARNAME was
defined to AC_PACKAGE_TARNAME, so it recurses slightly too much.
I'm a bit lost in this thread. What _exact_ version of Autoconf is
this?
Also, the traces contain something extremely suspicous:
