I'd like to get the AC_FUNC_FNMATCH_GNU etc. thing straightened out
first, so that we don't have people relying on the current CVS
semantics, but other than that it's fine with me if we snapshot and
then release.

Was that something you'd like to work on, or would you prefer that I
take a stab at it?  Unfortunately I'll be tied down doing other stuff
for the next 12 hours or so....
