That's precisely the reason why this message should not be in autoconf
(it's still present in the CVS version).  The message doesn't ask to
contact the package author of the package first, not does it ask to
provide the version of the operating system, relevant libraries and an
excerpt from config.log.

Yet it's not the most strange case.  I understand that "accepted by the
compiler, rejected by the preprocessor" is weird and would need
investigation, but still more information would be nice.

But if the header is "present but cannot be compiled", what's a big deal?
Even a monkey (no offense intended) can create such a header :-)
