-freeform (not -free-form) was from another compiler (I forget which, now;
maybe IRIX); I didn't even realize that g77 supported free-form source,
since it doesn't support f90 generally.

Just add -ffree-form to the list of flags to check for.  Or I can submit
an "official" patch if you want.
