 This bug hits gdb, in sim/, and gdb is about to be converted from
autoconf 2.13 to 2.5x.  I have an ugly workaround implemented for sim/ to
make it work despite the bug, but I'd prefer to avoid using it in the
mainline.  Is there any hope for the bug to be fixed before 2.60?  If so,
we could defer converting sim/ till then.
