I don't think it has much sense to put it to the test suite; if Paul
is not able to answer this immediately, we could add it to the m4sh
startup, similarly to the shell function spy code.

While we are at it, could we perhaps also check for `!' in `case'
patterns; Paul warned me that it may not be portable, but the
platform/shell which doesn't support it is not known.

But I'm afraid the release engineering department won't be excited
about our proposal.  Akim, let's allow Ralf to release a stable
release, and let's make an experimental release later this year!o
