I did this, then configured for a VPATH build, did `make' and
`make check', on my MSYS/MINGW32 Win2K box.  Here's the tail of the
output from `make check':

You may investigate any problem if you feel able to do so, in which
case the test suite provides a good starting point.  Its output may
be found below `tests/testsuite.dir'.
