Autoconf 2.59 is frozen, so perhaps you can try 'make check' with
Autoconf 2.61. Or, you might explain why Autoconf 2.61 doesn't work
for your application; perhaps this is due to an Autoconf bug, since
it's supposed to be mostly upward compatible with 2.59.
