The MSYS folks may already have a pre-built autoconf available for
download; I would highly recommend using that rather than trying to build
it yourself. Personally, I find the cygwin environment much nicer to use
on Windows than MSYS.

Ouch. Obviously, autoconf can't be built in a directory with spaces. You
will need to relocate your download into a different directory and try again.

I have no idea why make tried to run maintainer-only rules at this point,
but given that your build is already broken due to the spaces in your
directory, it's not worth trying to chase it down any further.
