I just compiled Autoconf 2.65 on Mac OS X 10.5 w/ Apple's gcc-4.2.1.
All tests are fine except #217 ("Substitute and define special
characters") which fails. I am attaching the testsuite.log for that
test.
We fixed something in the area with commit v2.65-35-ga2889ee, but I'm
not totally sure that that was it. If you are prepared to try out the
git version of Autoconf, you could confirm that the issue is fixed with
the current master, and thus will be fixed in the next release.
