I came across this message in the list archives while trying to
troubleshoot the behavior of `AC_LANG_GO'. I spent a few days
developing a workaround for the Open/OpenFile issue and adding a
rudimentary check for the presence of Go library dependencies that
works a bit like `PKG_CHECK_MODULES'.
I don't know if it's particularly elegant or portable, but I've
documented it here in case anyone who comes across this thread would
