Hello,
AM_MAKE_INCLUDE fails when using GNU make!
Indeed, if config.status is invoked from GNU make, it inherits the environment
variable MAKELEVEL which causes the make invocation inserted into the
AM_MAKE_INCLUDE macro to display the following message:
make[1]: Entering directory ...
done
make[1]: Leaving directory ...
and not the intended one:
done
As a result, _am_include is set to `#', and automatic dependency tracking is
disabled.
