In Automake 1.7 you don't need this patch.
You can replace it with
echo /usr/X11R6/share/aclocal/ > $prefix/share/aclocal/dirlist
(The manual has a whole section about how aclocal searches its
files if you are interested.)
The test suite should pass if you do that.
