preexec?

Hello,

I use bash 2.04.3(1)-release. I would like to find a way to display the
current job name in an xterm title. Xterm-Title mini-HOWTO only gives a
solution for zsh. Is it possible to achieve this with bash? If not, is
are there any features on the wish list that would make it possible
(e.g. something like zsh's preexec() function)?

(I am not subscribed to the list. I couldn't find any subscription
information in the bash README and home page.)
