Did I mention bash should have emacs' view-lossage feature too?
C-h l runs the command view-lossage
Display last 100 input keystrokes.
This would be great for finding out what went wrong, etc. I suppose it
wouldn't be a expensive item memory-wise too.
How you bind it is beyond the scope of my little suggestion, however.
The 100 could be actually env variable controlled...
