We are running RedHat Linux 7.1 with bash 2.04-21. There is a bug somewhere
that prevents a Perl script from passing a double quote character to the
shell (even with a preceeding backslash character) using Perl's backticks
command (qx/ /). At first we suspected the Perl interpreter but the script
works fine if we change the Linux /bin/sh link to ash instead of bash.
The Perl script has worked fine for over a year with RedHat 6.2 and bash
1.14.7-16
