the bug can be reproduced setting as PS1 variable somethink like this:
"\033[1;34m[\033[0;32m\h\033[1;34m] \033[0;36m\w \033[0m"

Re-read the PROMPTING section of the manual page, especially the
descriptions of the \[ and \] escape sequences.
