This is because M-g is a binding set by bash. In bash-2.05b, the
bash- specific keybindings (the ones listed in the man page) are set
unconditionally after the inputrc is read. The next version tries
harder to make sure a particular binding hasn't been changed in the
inputrc before binding the sequence to a bash-specific function.
