Bash Version: 3.1
Patch Level: 17
Release Status: release

Description:
When the directory parent of the current one is removed, the shell
presents a strange behaviour. Instead of changing to the existing part, it
concatenates the ".." to the current working directory.

Repeat-By:
I've put the sequence of steps that I used. It also includes the system
answer.

        jmalo@bscib04:/tmp> mkdir parent
        jmalo@bscib04:/tmp> mkdir parent/child
        jmalo@bscib04:/tmp> cd parent/child/
        jmalo@bscib04:/tmp/parent/child> rm -rf ../../parent/
        jmalo@bscib04:/tmp/parent/child> cd ..
cd: error retrieving current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent
directories: No existe el fichero o el directorio
        jmalo@bscib04:/tmp/parent/child/..> ls -a
        jmalo@bscib04:/tmp/parent/child/..>
