Can you test with:
 bash --norc --noprofile -i

[dualbus@dualbus ~]$ ls a
a a.odt a a.txt
[dualbus@dualbus ~]$ ls ~/a/a\ <TAB> [completes to:]
[dualbus@dualbus ~]$ ls ~/a/a\ a.
if I do <TAB><TAB>:
[dualbus@dualbus ~]$ ls ~/a/a\ a.
a a.odt a a.txt
[dualbus@dualbus ~]$ ls ~/a/a\ a.

So, it's working there.
